Aligning Body and Mind with Chiropractic and Self-Hypnosis

"The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in a proper diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease." -Thomas Edison

Since starting my chiropractic practice in 1985 I have witnessed many amazing responses to chiropractic care. The improvement of conditions as predictable as back pain, neck pain and headaches. As well as conditions you may not expect like asthma, allergy and digestive dysfunction. I believe the reason so many diverse conditions respond so well to chiropractic care is because chiropractic care improves the inborn self-healing response. When the self-healing response is optimized the body is better equipped to handle any imbalance it faces.

Because we are an integrated system of systems and it's the nervous system that controls and coordinates all the other systems, it is essential to optimize nervous system function. When the spine is aligned and flexible the nervous system works at it's optimum level. When there is a reduction in the alignment or flexibility of the spine, the function of the nervous system is reduced. This deminishes the self-healing response.

With training in massage therapy prior to my chiropractic education, I have always appreciated the relationship between the function of the muscles and the alignment of the spine. As a result I always massage the spinal muscles before adjusting the spine, which makes the adjustments more comfortable, more effective and the benefits longer lasting.

The primary purpose of my practice is to restore and enhance health and well-being, while preventing dis-ease and dysfunction. In addition to chiropractic I have discovered the practice of self-hypnosis as a vital key in the fullfillment of this purpose.

Because our experience of health and well-being is a direct reflection of our most dominate thoughts and actions, the ability to change our thoughts and actions is vital to our health and well-being. Over my many years in practice I have discovered most people know much more about what they need to do to experience more health then they actually practice. Knowing the way isn't going the way , as I often share with my patients. Learning to practice self-hypnosis gives one the abililty to bridge the gap between what they know and what they do, to align their thoughts and actions with the outcome of health and well-being.
